There are big changes set to sweep the security industry beginning on June 1st 2023.
For the most part the changes look to be promising and alleviate some of the issues the industry is facing at the moment.
Over the last 10 years the security industry has come a long way.
From helping companies universally increase their pricing as well as increasing the award rate. Both of which has been done through a comprehensive clean up process since the introduction of The Security Licensing and Enforcement Directorate SLED.
Another set of changes will be welcomed in the hope to further help with the current “Crowd Control” issues faced by security providers.
In recent years insurance claims have been numerous. With many companies in breach of crowd control guidelines and using heavy handed tactics.
These actions have pushed the insurance premiums up drastically across the board. Almost making it impossible for licensed venues to provide security services due to the increased rates charged by security companies to accommodate for the rate rises
We hope that a merge between the license sub class of unarmed security guarding together with crowd control duties will help with not only guard services. But also the ability to mitigate these rises and increased premiums.
It is a smart move by the industry and one we hope will help companies provide a universal security service. The security service will obviously come with better training for security guards who will be sitting the security course.
Among this major change other changes to industry also include
The amendment of the definition of crowd controlling services. Which will include additional places where these duties can be provided.
Cash In Transit
Thirdly an additional sub class for cash in transit
Additional Requirements and Changes
Changes to Visa requirements for holding a valid NSW security license.
The publishing of non current license holders both individually and company master license holders.
Will There Be More Security Service Changes To Come?
The changes we’ve outlined are just some of many changes which will come into effect from 1/6/2023.
As always Security Hire Sydney advocate any change that provides a better work environment for not only security personnel but also clients and customers.
Cyber Security
A greater focus is still lacking in the cyber security field and we look to the government and policy makers to better govern the cyber security field.
Greater funding and training is needed to safe guard Australian data and online information.
In order to stop the Australian cyber security attacks we’ve seen in recent times, we need to address these concerns as well as physical security services. These changes are a step in the right direction for any security company in Sydney.
Security Issues Sydney Companies Face in 2023
It’s important to remember that the security industry in NSW has taken a lot of backlash for various reasons.
So now as we deal with decreased spending and reduced security budgets, it will test many security companies and their services.
Our economy is heading for tough times through the numerous increases in interest rates and decreased spending by consumers.
To come out of the other side we will need to provide better pricing at a more competitive future market.
The companies who can adapt to these changes will make it through the other side
However security companies, particularly in Sydney, who choose to not innovate and adapt to these coming changes may not make it through the difficult times ahead.
